Bars and movie theaters are allowing people to come in again. This may or may not be a good idea with regard to Covid 19, but it’s probably never been a good idea for wooing that special someone. Sure, getting someone drunk and/or confining them to a dark room for a few hours may loosen them up, and get them to overlook many of your defects of character (beer goggles, yay!) but if your Woo is drinking, you will be drinking, and that could make the whole thing go off the rails!
I remember going out to a bar with a new Woo when I was in my 20’s. A few dozen drinks later I emerged from a blackout in a strange bed. The room was musty, and the room was that of a high school athlete who left for college years ago, with awards and trophies on display. My Woo? Who knows what happened there, but out the strange bedroom window I could see my car parked on the front lawn, with the driver’s door open. The faint “ding, ding, ding” could be heard through the glass.
Cracking the bedroom door, I smelled bacon and could hear an old couple talking about their day as one of them prepared breakfast. In the hall were scores of framed family photos… I desperately looked for a face I recognized. To no avail.
Across the hall was a bathroom that served my immediate need, in my still very drunken state. With the old couple down the hall to my left, I decided discretion was the better part of valor and took a right. A quiet slip out of a sliding glass door, out to the front lawn, into my car and on my way.
It took me nearly an hour of confusion before I found out I was in Indiana. My Woo adventure began the evening before in St. Louis. I never did get that Woo to return my calls, and never figured out what drew me to Indiana or who that old couple was.
So, Covid 19 is scary. Be safe, fellow Wooers.
